Welcome to our new feature entitled: Do You Remember...? In this post we will reminisce about things from our childhood.
This week's memory: POGS!!! HAHA POGS!! Perhaps the silliest fad of all time. Small collectible cardboard discs! We used to go crazy about these things! Do you remember...those pog tubes? Do you remember the Slammers? There were heavy metal discs that were used to flip the cardboard pogs over. I also recall there being lighter platic slammers. Were there actually rules to the game? Was it a game at all? If you flipped over your friends pogs, you get to keep them? What was the deal with the poison pogs? We'd love to hear your memories as well...
Next time on Do You Remember...Grandpa's Magical Toys!
I agree, pogs were a ridiculous fad. Yet they would become increasingly addictive over time. I'd spend months accumulating so many pogs i would have a city of pog tubes in my room including several deluxe sized tubes that only the true fanatics would have. We would take 10 minutes to set up the pile of pogs to "slam" but then you touch it with one of those 10 pound slammers for one sec and the whole thing just tips over! Unflippable! I still have several of my slammers in case they are due for a comeback...which they are! And by the way, no matter what we think the rules were, if some kid even managed to flip one of your pogs and tried to take it you know you'd be all like "hells no you ain't takin my pog!" B/c you did not spend 3 months looking for the Reflective Shiny Megazord Pog just to lose it to some kid whose mom bought him a solid gold slammer for like $75. LONG LIVE THE POG!!!
